escape

think it's been two weeks since i came back from my short escape to indonesia.

the thing with travelling is how i usually have a heightened sense of my new environment. i look out for visual cues which clue me to my next destination, and quantify landscapes with maps and photographs. i listen more intently to foreign conversations going on around me, hopefully to catch phrases which i can understand. i taste new foods with emboldened curiosity, and form quick opinions and comparisons.

most pple probably don't like the travelling part in travelling. conversely, i kinda love the long commutes between places. because i like the feeling of staring at flitting landscapes and letting the mind wander until i fall asleep. i also like to walk until i am almost lost, as much as my legs can carry me. and i like it that the first thought that comes to mind every morning when i wake up is 'where should i go today?'

new experiences in a new environment. like a new job or a fresh semester, it brings renewed perspectives, and the impression of possibilities.

maybe a little bit like 梁文福's lyrics for 雨季:
幸福是有许多未知将上演

inspirations happen, but inspirations are also forgotten. since coming back, i'd been thrown back into the cycles of chasing deadlines and sending emails. a little bit too quickly.

but i think there are ways to extend the inspirations' expiry dates. one, will be to process the photographs slowly. and two, will be to blog about the travel two weeks after returning.

guess that will have to work, until the next escape.
